"Please Don't Go" By: Mike Posner

Just run away
From these lies
Back to yesterday
Safe tonight
I feel the sun creeping up like tik tok
I'm trying to keep you in my head but if not
We'll just keep running from tomorrow with our lips locked
Yeah you got me begging begging baby please don't go
If I wake up tomorrow will you still be here
I don't know
If you feel the way I do
If you leave I'm gonna find you
Baby please don't go go go go
Baby please don't go go go go
Baby please don't go go go go
Baby please don't
Baby please don't
Baby please don't runaway
From my bed and start another day
Stay instead
I feel the sun creeping up like tik tok
I'm trying to keep you in my head but if not
We'll just keep running from tomorrow with our lips locked
Yeah you got me begging begging baby please don't go
If I wake up tomorrow will you still be here
I don't know
If you feel the way I do
If you leave I'm gonna find you
Baby please don't go go go go
Baby please don't go go go go
Baby please don't go go go go
Baby please don't
Baby please don't
I stay running from tomorrow
I stay running from tomorrow
Well I stay running from tomorrow
Said I stay running from tomorrow
Baby please don't go (please don't go)
If I wake up tomorrow will you still be here
I don't know
If you feel the way I do
If you leave I'm gonna find you (I'm gone, I'm gone, I'm gonna find you)
Baby please don't go go go go
Baby please don't go go go go (don't leave me, leave me)
Baby please don't go go go go
Baby please don't
Baby please don't
Runaway
"Please Don't Go" by Mike Posner is one of my favorite songs at the moment. It recently just came out and currently plays on our local radio stations :]. I absolutely love everything about this song. The beat and lyrics go so great together that I can play this song over and over again and never be tired of hearing it. This song just reminds me of how sometimes one can feel like they never want the day to end and hope that tomorrow never comes because the present just feels so perfect. No one ever knows what can happen tomorrow or the day after that, and being caught up in good moments can make someone want to stop time so that the feeling would never end.
"I feel the sun creeping up like tik tok
I'm trying to keep you in my head but if not
We'll just keep running from tomorrow with our lips locked
Yeah you got me begging begging baby please don't go
If I wake up tomorrow will you still be here"
This part of the song reminds me of the poem "The Sun Rising" by John Donne, which is the poem we all read in class. This reminds me of that poem because Mike Posner sings about how the sun is coming and he just wants to stay in the moment, but tomorrow is already on its way. Both Posner and Donne explain how they do not want tomorrow to arrive because they are with the person they love and they don't want anything to change. This song just always puts me in a good mood.

"The Wind" by James Stephens

"The Wind" written by James Stephens is a poem describing the wind and giving it human-like features and actions. The author James Stephens uses words like he, hands, and fingers to describe actions of the wind. The wind does not actually have hands or fingers, but Stephens gives the wind these features to give the readers an input of how he views the wind. The poem is short, but straight to the point. Stephens does not use many words, and each stanza is two sentences long.
In this poem, Stephens explains the characteristics the wind contains, but through features that humans possess. As the wind blows, individuals can hear the wind, see trees swaying, and watch the leaves on the ground get blown around. Instead of just explaining how nature moves when wind blows, Stephens uses human characteristics as if the wind were a person: "He whistled on his fingers and Kicked the withered leaves about"(pg.474).  His explanation of the wind containing human characteristics makes sense because when the wind blows, the leaves move around, as if someone were kicking it. The branches on the trees swaying when the wind blows would look the same if a person where to grab them by their hands and start shaking the branches:"And thumped the branches with his hand,"(pg.474).
One difference between wind and a human is that wind can never be seen. One can see when wind is blowing only because the objects in between it stand in it's way. Individuals can feel the wind, but still we cannot see the wind. I think the kind of wind Stephens is talking about is not any regular kind of wind that blows and then goes away. I think he is talking about a tornado. Tornados are very strong gusts of wind that can destroy whatever is in it's way, which is why, I believe Stephens wrote his poem about a tornado. He wrote: "And he said he'll kill and kill and kill, And so he will and so he will,"(pg.474). This line made me believe that he was describing a tornado because tornadoes can result into many disasters.

Sonnet

"My Other Half"
You took care of my since I was a baby
I grew attached to you since day one.
You weren't just some old lady.
You were the light to my sun.
We grew a bond and never parted
So I could never imagine life without you
But life goes on, and recently you departed,
Away from Earth, leaving me feeling blue.
How I wish this day would never come
Because I always wanted you by my side.
Loosing you made me feel so numb.
Feeling so sad, for hours I cried.
At least you are no longer in pain
Grandma I love you, our memories will be forever in my brain.

Poem

I picked the poem "Sick" by Shel Silverstein because I found it amusing. This poem reminded me about my childhood and being back in elementary school. I know a lot of us have attempted to fake an illness or injury so that we can miss at least one day of school, and if we're very convincing maybe even two days. I sent it to my friend whom i've known since elementary school. My friend was surprised that I had sent her a poem. After she read it, she also found it very funny and she got flashbacks about being a kid again. Then we started talking about the funny things that happened when we went to school together. Reminiscing on past memories is quite enjoyable and that is what happened after reading that poem.
